Summary of Role:

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

To include but not limited to completing the following project engineering tasks:

 

  • System concepting for quotations using 3D and 2D CAD tools from URS documents and input from Sales Engineer and Systems Manager
  • Track project progress and report by use of MS project and project costing tools
  • Gain full understanding of customer requirements and manage expectations by regular communicates and project reviews
  • Develop customer relationship with regular commination both written and oral and site visits
  • Limit project risk by utilizing known technologies, methodologies and regular communication with Systems Manger
  • Technical leadership and people management skills when dealing with the customer, subcontractors and internal Engineers and site installation
  • Manage subcontract design engineers on a daily basis
  • Have good understanding of the  Machinery Directive, Risk Assessments and CE marking
  • Control the project spend by conducting regular project reviews and designing to cost
  • Be capable of implementing drawing control and design standards into a new design environment


REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications, knowledge & experience:

Essential:
  • Educated to HNC / Degree in Mechanical Engineering,
  • Minimum of five years’ post graduate experience working in a machinery design role.
  • Proven experience in a customer facing project engineering role
  • Proficient use of Solidworks

Desirable:
  • Siemens NX, Solid Edge CAD system
  • MS Project
  • AutoCAD

Technical competencies:

Essential:
  • 3D and 2D CAD
  • Good knowledge of Special Purpose Machinery  from basic conveying equipment and complex precision tooling
  • Familiarity with up-to-date office software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Familiarity with Design and Project Management office practices
  • Design to cost
  • Budget control detail drafting and checking
  • Generate specifications for bought out parts
  • Prototype Engineering trials and machinery development
  • Value Engineering
  • Be competent with the design of pneumatic circuits
  • Generation of technical manuals and recommending spare parts
  • Be capable of completing design calculations
  • Direct workshop staff on technical queries
  • The log and report any activity  within or outside ATG’s responsibility that has caused or could cause a delay or additional cost to the project
  • Manage Site Safety When required

Desirable:
  • Knowledge of machinery used in the Automotive and material handling industries.
  • Knowledge of the different types and uses of robots
  • Familiar with modern manufacturing techniques
